About Colin Coogan (Orvis Endorsed Guide)
Growing up in Northern California was a true blessing, I was exposed to a lot of outdoor activities as a child and into my adult life. The surrounding areas near the town I was raised in provided some incredible places to roam. I wasn't always a fly angler, I grew up fishing conventional on the mountain creeks and streams with my father. I still remember the early days when he and myself would go fish, showing me holding spots, how to cast, how to drift, and how to rig rods appropriately for the type of water we would be fishing, that is when I knew I would love this sport for the rest of my life. Little did I know that one day it would be my desire to be a fishing guide. I picked up a fly rod little later in life, and before too long, I was hooked! It's the pure connections with the wild that drew me to the sport of fly fishing. I enjoy the process of targeting fish and presenting a dry fly or nymph or swinging a fly down and across at aggressive steelhead. It is my passion to teach the sport of fly fishing and it is my goal to provide you as the client the best possible experience during our time on the water.
Over the course of my career as a professional fishing guide, I have had the pleasure of guiding people in some of the world’s best trout and steelhead fisheries in California and Montana. Through my years of teaching and guiding in a variety of water types, I have developed the necessary skills and techniques to help my clients catch and target fish in the most effective ways.
